TCF Canada Test
The TCF-Canada (Test de Connaissance du Français) is a French language proficiency test that is accepted by Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) for the purposes of economic immigration or for obtaining Canadian citizenship and recognized as an official proof of language proficiency for permanent residency application.
The Test de Connaissance du Français is an exam that assesses a non-native French speaker’s French language abilities. It is administered by the Centre international d'études pédagogiques (CIEP) for the French Ministry of Education. It fulfils French language entry requirements, can be used to demonstrate language ability for job applications or for personal use, used by Québec for immigration procedures and also accepted by Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
GB Language Centre, North York is the exam centre in the GTA accredited to hold internationally recognized TCF Tests.

TCF Exam Format
The TCF-Canada consists of four mandatory modules namely- listening comprehension, reading comprehension, speaking, and writing. The listening module has 39 multiple choice questions, the reading module has 39 multiple choice questions. There are 3 speaking tasks, organized according to a progressively increasing level of difficulty: and 3 writing tasks, also with a progressively increasing level of difficulty. The levels correspond to the benchmarks specified by the European Framework for Language Learning, Teaching and Evaluation as well as the Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB).

Registration Process
In order to complete the registration, we need the completed form, copy of your valid passport and the payment.
- Prior registration, please make sure that you need the TCF-Canada. It is the sole responsibility of the candidate to ensure that he/she is registered for the appropriate exam. GBLC and its employees cannot be held responsible for the choices made by the candidate.
- Payments to be made in full at the time of registration.
- No transfers, refunds or credits will be granted after the registration to the TCF.
- No refund or credit will be granted under any circumstances past the afore mentioned deadlines, unless GBLC has to cancel a session of tests, in which an alternative exam date will be offered, or a full refund will be granted.
- In the event of cancellation or rescheduling before the registration deadline, a non-refundable $75 will be charged. No refunds will be granted after the registration deadline.
- To take the test, the candidate must be 16 and older.
- If you want the results to be mailed to your address, extra shipping charges of $22.60 needs to be paid.
- Modes of payments accepted are cash,debit and credit card at our office, or e-transfer at payments@gblc.ca
- For E-transfer payments, please leave your name and session date in the message of e-transfer.
How to Register
- Fill the form attached and send it back at admin@gblc.ca. Make sure of the spellings of your name is correct because the same will be printed on your test report sheet.
- Pay the registration fee of $452.
- Send a neat scan of your valid passport which has your photo on it

- You may also email your complete documents to admin@gblc.ca
- Please make sure that the payment and relevant document must reach our office before the registration deadline. Failing which, we can reserve the seat. To access to resources and sample tests, please visit the FEI website.
TCF Results Timeline
Please note that it takes 2 - 3 weeks for the TCF Computer based test and 3 - 4 weeks for Paper based Tests. We will send the official certificates by e-mail to each of the candidate. If you need a print from our Centre, we can provide it to you by email or in person.
TCF Results Format
The TCF Certificate in original is NOT being issued by France Education International with effect from March 27, 2023. Thus, for the sessions passed from March 27, no more certificate published on secure paper will be sent from FEI.
- The certificate is in a new simplified DIGITAL format which includes:
- Information of the candidate, photo of the candidate and results.
- A QR code that links to the page of the FEI website dedicated to reading the Results allowing any end user to verify the authenticity of the certificate CAUTION to be sure that is not a falsified QR Code.
STEPS to verify your results
- Scan the QR code and check that the beginning of the URL of the page opens with http://controle.france-education-international.fr.
- Enter the number of the certificate (the last part of combination of letters and digits).
- Enter the date of session as mentioned in the certificate.
- Validate the calculation asked.
- Your results can thus be verified.
